This rug was woven by a group of artisans from a village just outside Beni M’rirt, located in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains.

The collective is led by Soukina and was founded in the early 2000s by her mother, Keltouma. Today, the group is made up of 25 artisans who specialize in medium to high hand-knot rugs, a style named after the region.

Traditional rugs from this area use a thick knotting technique, giving each piece its especially plush feel underfoot.
